So hey! Wow! Apparently my last post here was September 2012? I think.
Anyway, so since then I have changed my diet, started working out more and watching things like Food Network... I have also removed wheat from my diet. I miss a lot of foods, like sourdough bread. =) The format of this new blog will have a lot more to do with experimenting with recipes I find on the internet and just playing in the kitchen... With the occasional post about other things. I'll also fill you in on what I do for food when I travel because I almost never fall off my diet plan even when I go out of town, I know some people struggle with that.
So, here we go... I decided I needed, yes, needed sourdough bread. How hard could it be? Not hard at all actually! This is what I found...
Sourdough Starter recipe
And I fed this thing twice a day for 7 days... You end up with quite a lot of starter, but it's oh so worth it!! You can either toss what you have left over, or make sourdough pancakes... which I am going to try later this week... so go, start your starter and when you come back for the bread recipe, I should have a new post about pancakes! Win/win.
Are you back??
After feeding the beast for 7 days (yes I went a day longer because I had to go to the grocery, and I'm glad I waited because I decided to go with a modification, because I'm lazy:
Gluten Free Sourdough Bread recipe
Here is the modification... instead of using all the different flours and etc, I subbed Bob's Red Mill Gluten Free Bread Mix... It has all the different flours you need, the xanthum gum, salt and sugar already in it.
Disregard all the things I've highlighted in yellow and use 4.5 cups of the bread mix I mentioned above. Do everything else exactly the same as her recipe. Voila! Even my picky liked it.
